field trip number 1!!!

so tomorrow we leave for tallinn, estonia for 2 nights and then on to berlin for 3 nights as part of our first field trip! i am so so soooo excited to go to estonia as i've only heard great things about it from my sister! I was able to talk to jen tonight on skype and she gave me all the places to go and check out!! today was a super long day- it was the final day of the "intensive session". which basically means we wont be having 2 hours of german everyday as well as 1.5 hours of our seminar class. german 101 is going well- ive learned basic phrases and was quizzed on the fruits and veggies today! then in the seminar class we were discussing the EU and all of its institutions- which i know very very little about- but managed to get by for the test we had today. my teacher for the seminar is named, Gert and he's a pretty relaxed guy... maybe a little too relaxed. where everyone else has a very organized seminar session with power point presentations and what not, gert likes to just sit back and discuss things with the help of his "handy dandy" web-map type things... you know those brainstorming bubbles that all seemed to be interconnected somehow.... pretty darn confusing if you ask me! but anyways the intensive part of the past 2 weeks has been quite silly if u ask me. i understand it's neccessary to do, but at the same time to be assigning around 80 pages of dense reading a night on topics that for the majority people dont know much about, is a little much. to be honest, i skimmed most of the stuff but got the gist of it all and know i'm already on my way of becoming a scholar of the institutions in the EU.
on Monday i had my internship meeting at the IES center. we just went over my CV and i had to change a few things before it got sent out. im applying for an internship in brussels, belgium for a month and really hope they will find one for me. it would be an opportunity of a life time to have that experience of interning in a european city and would be a great way to end my year abroad. but unfortunately ill have to wait a few more weeks to hear back and wont know anything until the beginning of march or so.
alright well its almost midnight and our dorm is the first pick up on the list tomorrow at 840am! so i better be going to bed. all day tomorrow we are just traveling- we drive up to frankfurt and have a flight at around 230 and then we get to tallinn around 430 and will get to the hotel shortly after. then jen gave me a place to go for dinner so it should be a good day! i look forward to posting pictures and really getting this blog going once i get back from the trip!
